Paul Sale - Co-founder of Shoestring Ministries, Inc. and what’s in it for Him?
I wanted to write about the power of the idea behind what's in it for Him? and how it has worked on me. After church one Sunday, my wife explained the concept of what’s in it for Him? as it had been explained to her from a friend of ours (Glen). Glen presented the idea to her to start a ministry and promote this message globally. As my wife was explaining the idea to me, I kept thinking to myself, what are we getting out of this? I realized later that I had a major ME addiction problem. Just like most people, our lives are very busy and the thought of spending time working on something else, even if it was a ministry, did not appeal to me unless we were somehow going to benefit from it.
It was a very selfish attitude that I now realize I had. Later that same day, my wife and I had dinner with Glen and Yvonne as described on the "Our Story" page of this website. As we began to talk and pray about this ministry and where we felt (mostly Glen felt at the time) God was leading, I realized how selfish I had been. The what's in it for Him? concept worked on me, without the idea being fully developed or having any product, and it completely changed my focus for this ministry. I am now excited and motivated to get this message out to the masses and make real, positive change for the glory of God.
It is my prayer that you (everyone reading this message) have the same realization after understanding what we are trying to accomplish. This is not about bracelets, t-shirts, and hats; we use those tools to remind ourselves to rethink our decisions and focus them more on Christ. If we all change our mindset, our hearts, and in turn, our actions, just imagine what God can do through us. I am super excited to see what God is going to do with this ministry. I have seen first hand how God has opened doors and made things happen that we did not expect. We, the four founders of this ministry, have all been left speechless at times after realizing what God has already done with this ministry before it officially launched.
Please pray for me (and all of us) as I continue to struggle with changing my actions and attitude.
Please leave your comments here as well. Let us know how this question has impacted your life. We look forward to laughing with you, crying with you, praying for you, encouraging you, supporting you, and seeing the wonderful things God has planned for each and every one of you.
Help us change the world by changing the question; not what's in it for me, but what's in it for Him?!
In Christ

Though I was extremely excited about this simple, yet powerful message, it wasn't in my plan to wear a silicone bracelet, not really my style. It then occurred to me that "my style" was all about me and how I wanted to appear to others. Not a proud moment. I hadn't given any consideration to What's in it for Him?. I am happy to share with you that I wear the bracelet daily and it serves as a constant reminder that I need to be "intentional" in every area of my life, as wife, mother, sister, business woman, friend, etc. May God be glorified in my words and actions.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
